Becoming our client

The processes outlined below will allow you to become our client so that we can support you with your UK tax affairs. Usually we have an initial meeting with our prospective new clients and then can gather further documents and information via email and the telephone. However, we appreciate many clients lead very busy lives and so it is possible to become a client by completing the following stages via email and then posting/couriering some key documents if you wish.

FIRSTLY:
Please complete and return an engagement letter
Download, complete and sign our standard engagement letter. Please ensure that you include your full name and address, the year you want us to start and that you sign the letter.
standard engagement letter
Joint owners can also use the same standard letter. Scan your completed letter and email it back to us and we will be in contact. Please keep the original as it will be needed later.

If your properties are owned by a UK company, please do not use use our standard engagement letter but contact us.

THEN:
a)  - provide us with proof of identification
We are required to check and then keep a copy of Identification evidence for each of our clients.  When we contact you we will agree what we need as proof of ID can take copies of this during our initial meeting. Usually this will include photo ID (e.g. your passport and/or HK ID card) and two proofs of address (e.g. utility bill, bank statement etc). Alternatively, you may wish to visit a local solicitor or notary and to ask them to provide the certificate we require. If so, the original (paper copy) must be sent to us later.

b) - send us details about you and your property income
We will then ask you for some basic information about you and your property income. The information you provide will allow us to complete the forms required by Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and set you up on our computer systems. We will send you the completed forms for approval before we send them to HMRC.

FINALLY:
Please send us your completed paperwork
We need you to send us your original signed engagement letter and the signed forms for HMRC. If you chose to confirm your ID via a local solicitor you will also need to include the original ID certificate.

Getting started should be straightforward, but if you have any questions please ask.
